Historically woven garment items were dominating in the export of Bangladesh. But in recent years knitwear items have been dominating the country’s exports especially during and after the covid 19. That means knitwear items are the top export items of the country now.

In the first two months of the current fiscal year, the knitwear also the top exporter of the country. The data analysis shows that the knitwear items have been dominating in the country’s export and also in future the knitwear will dominate.

1/ The woven is lead time and availability of raw materials in shorter time.

2/ A big change in global fashion and style.

3/ In the western world the duration of summer season is longer now because of climate change.

=> As a result, the demand for knitwear increased and the demand for woven garment items fell worldwide.

– The making of knitwear is easier than the woven garment items and less investment is needed for knitwear items

– Weather change is a big factor for rising demand for knitwear items

– Consumers also prefer knitted items to woven because knit garment prices are lower than the woven items
