Langfang, a city located in the Hebei province in North China, recently launched its first China-Europe freight train, marking a milestone in the city’s transportation development. The launch of the China-Europe freight train service will provide a more efficient and cost-effective transportation option for businesses in Langfang and other regions.
The train, which carried 55 40-foot containers with a total value of nearly 20 million yuan (about $2.88 million), has departed from Langfang and will complete a journey of 7,800 km. The train will leave the country via Erenhot Port in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, pass through Mongolia and eventually reach its destination in Moscow, Russia after 17 days, according to local media reports.

The goods carried by the train include clothing from local companies in Langfang and surrounding areas. The city’s development and reform commission noted that the freight train service is significant in further promoting the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and integrating into the Belt and Road Initiative construction.
The new train service is expected to boost trade and promote economic development in the region while strengthening the connectivity between China and Europe.
